GSTIN Validator

Checks the format and check character of a GSTIN and reads out its state and PAN.

15 characters. Spaces are removed and letters upper-cased as you type.

Checked in your browser: the GSTIN is not sent to OneTrails or to the GST portal. The registered name, status and return history come from the portal through a licensed GSP, and that lookup runs inside OneTrails with your firm’s consent.

Type or paste a GSTIN to check it.

A valid format and checksum do not prove the GSTIN is active. Check its status on the GST portal before you rely on it.

Where the Figures Come From

A GSTIN has 15 characters: the 2-digit state code, the holder’s 10-character PAN (a TAN for tax deductors), the registration number for that PAN in the state, a letter for the type of registration and a check character worked out from the first 14.

This page runs the same validation function that checks every GSTIN typed into OneTrails, and reads the state from the rule pack’s list of state codes. It never contacts the GST portal, so it cannot say whether a registration is active or cancelled.

Inside OneTrails the registered name, address, status and filing history come from the GST portal through a licensed GST Suvidha Provider, as a metered lookup your firm turns on.
